Queen’s Golden Jubilee visit to the Armed Forces
commissioned to advise on the best way for the Armed Forces to put together a complex and comprehensive display for Her majesty the Queen and Prince Philip, to celebrate her Jubilee visit to her Armed services.
The presentation needed to showcase the work of British Armed Forces including the Army, Royal Navy and The Royal Air Force in a tri-service presentation. We devised a dramatic series of displays and presentations to be shown to the Royal couple on the morning of June 27th on Whale Island in Portsmouth.
The five-part programme covered the three main aspects of modern military action – Entry into Theatre, Combat, and Peacekeeping. It also included two further features on Support Services (the men and women supporting those at the front) and Service Lives with nine members of the three services nominated for exceptional work within the military and the wider community.
We worked closely with the armed forces to create a show which brought together civilian production services with the formality of service personnel. We constructed a huge outdoor temporary theatre showcasing live troops, communications and incorporating special effects to emulate combat.
The Queen moved through zones, with 2500 other military and invited guests also attending both the dress rehearsal and official event alongside the two VIP attendees. The whole production was designed in line with our experience of managing events with Royal protocols with the best experience saved for their view point at every stage.
