BAE Ship launches

Over the years, the Naval Dockyard at Portsmouth has become like a second home to some of the team at REM. Working with our client BAE systems has enabled us to build a working relationship which involves fascinating traditions and formalities alongside cutting edge technologies. In 2013, we were contracted to produce and manage naming and handover ceremonies for three ships, one for the Royal Navy of Oman and two for the Brazilian Navy.

The Omani Khareef Class corvettes are equipped to defend against both surface and air threats with stealth features to operate undetected, an innovative hull design and electric propulsion to provide exceptional manoeuvrability. The ship is capable of undertaking a range of operations including coastal patrols, disaster relief, search and rescue and deterrence operations.

The Brazilian 90 metre Amazonas Class ships are based on the design of the Royal Navy’s River Class Offshore Patrol Vessels and are ideal for providing maritime security in Brazil’s territorial waters, including the protection of the country’s oil and gas platforms.
